If You Want to Choose the Best Web Host for Your Website, then You Must Read this Guide
Over the years, the two most common web hosting problems I see with clients is site downtime or overpaying for web hosting. Usually site downtime has to do with poor selection of hosting company or being on a plan not adequate for their site’s needs. Just as often I have new clients come to me paying hundreds of dollars a month when they could be on a $10 a month plan.
Choosing the wrong company to host your website can cost you time and money. When I first started building websites I relied on reviews from other website as guidance. A few web hosts that were high on “top 10″ lists turned out to be terrible: lots of downtime, database problems and no support. I had to move my sites from one host to the another -which was a real pain! I found out later that many of these review sites were fake. After a few years of trial and error I found a couple reliable hosts that I am happy with.
I have over 10 years of experience managing my own sites with several different web hosting companies, as well as managing sites for clients on various web hosts. I wrote this guide to impart my knowledge and experience with those getting started with shared web hosting, and wanted to make sure people understood the considerations when choosing a web host.
I also take some of the mystery out of website and hosting jargon by listing and defining basic terms and concepts such as FTP, IP addresses, SSL, Cloud hosting and many more.
